Old Pier House is a private estate of around 75 acres on the penninsula of Loch Ness. Our cabins and apartment sit on the banks of Loch Ness, surrounded by this iconic body of water and the forests that make the Great Glen Way. The location is fabled; nestled in the highland hills, and a 10 minute walk from the historical village Fort Augustus, Old Pier House is wild, beautiful and very tranquil.
We have a handful of perfect holiday cabins, all with their own outdoor space. An emphasis on the outdoors, we are also home to a number of different free-roaming animals, and a cut flower garden. Find out more about our land below.
Bloom Borealis
The secret garden at the Old Pier House, Bloom Borealis (meaning Flowers from the north) is Ash’s kitchen and cut flower garden. Guests are welcome to visit the garden provided gates are locked at all times- we have a few greedy horses on site. Seeds and other produce from Bloom Borealis are also available to purchase from our shop.
Free-Roaming Horses
We really love horses here at the Old Pier House, and we have three in residence with us. As our horses are no longer ridden (either due to well-earned retirement, or they have been rescued due to previous injury) they enjoy the easy life, and are allowed to roam freely across the land. The horses are very friendly and approachable, but please treat them with care and do not be tempted to feed them, as they have very specific dietary requirements.
Explore Loch Ness
As the only property with a pier directly onto Loch Ness, we offer our guests the opportunity to use some of our Canoes to explore this iconic body of water. Canoes are available to rent during your stay with us.
